Animation Movies From 2007! The one thing I love about moving into Los Angeles is the number of revival houses and single screen theatres you can still visit. I'm not referring to your multiplexes which can be playing the newest Hollywood blockbusters, I'm talking about those historic movie theaters that have fun playing the classic movies we loved watching whenever we were becoming an adult. Many of these films we first watched on tv or rented them on VHS from my local video stores (back when they existed), but we never got a chance to see them for the big screen where they belonged. But as a result of places like New Beverly Cinema, the Egyptian Theatre and Grauman's Chinese among other movie theatres, we finally get to discover their whereabouts the way they were intended to be seen.
Now I know a lot of people who today would prefer to curl up around the sofa and observe movies in your own home, these cult movies have to be seen around the big screen should you be ever in Los Angeles.
"The Rocky Horror Picture Show"
This musical comedy horror cult classic which stars Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick and also the great Tim Curry as a "sweet transvestite from Transsexual, Transylvania" may be the longest-running midnight movie of all time. The 2003 romantic drama that was written, produced, directed and stars Tommy "YOU'RE TEARING ME APART LISA!" Wiseau has become called among the worst films available, and also the fans still can't get enough of it. "The Room" is constantly on the sell out midnight screenings on the Regent Theatre in Los Angeles, and you can always rely on Wiseau being there to perform a Q&A session with the fans. Joel and Ethan Coen followed up their masterpiece "Fargo" using this dark comedy starring Jeff Bridges as Jeff "The Dude" Lebowski. The movie was a box office disappointment, but it has since garnered one of several biggest and strangest cult followings from a movie ever made due to the main character's unapologetically casual attitude. Screenings of "The Big Lebowski" is available at various Los Angeles movie theatres, nevertheless the real treat for fans is the place the Lebowski Fest comes to town. The recent Lebowski Fest held on the Saban Theater and Fountain Bowl featured an evening of unlimited bowling and also various trivia contests. Every Los Angeles screening I have witnessed of John Carpenter's fighting styles comedy has always ended in a sold out audience. Thanks to home video, "Big Trouble in Little China" gained a huge cult following, and audiences adore it today in such a way that you wished they did back when it first came out. It's such a kick to observe this film by having an audience because they are in hysterics over Kurt Russell delivering his dialogue by having an unapologetic John Wayne swagger, and we have long since accepted the belief that his character of Jack Burton is much more of a blowhard compared to a hero. It doesn't matter how many times you have observed this movie; "Big Trouble in Little China" is still a blast to view through.
